  1. Support our work

Caritas

Initiated over 10 years ago, Caritas AOB was a network organisation linking together charitable work from across the Archdiocese of Birmingham.

From 1 October 2024 Caritas AOB joined with Father Hudson’s Care to become Father Hudson Caritas. At Father Hudson's we have been providing support to those in need since 1902. Over the last 122 years we have adapted and developed to ensure we are reaching out and supporting those most in need.

As Father Hudson's Caritas, we will continue our existing essential services to those in need covering the areas of older people, disability, refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, homelessness, children and families. We will further build the legacy of Caritas AOB into our work, supporting and developing social action in parishes across the Archdiocese. We are a member of the Caritas Social Action Network for England and Wales and are proud to use the Caritas International logo.

Caritas means love, charity, care, concern for others. The term is universal and used across the world by similar organisations driven by a Catholic ethos. We are proud of our ethos, we reach out and support people of all faiths and none and are embedded by our values of being inclusive, welcoming of all and challenging injustice. Having Caritas in our name better reflects our place nationally and internationally, ensuring we are visible both regionally as the social care agency of the Archdiocese of Birmingham and internationally as a Caritas organisation.

Our new Caritas Development Lead
My name is Emily Pugh and I am the new Caritas Development Lead. Caritas means sharing the love of Jesus and I am so excited about my role.

My role will be visiting and working with parishes, schools and other groups, supporting them to continue, initiate and grow their Caritas work. I am passionate about living out the Gospel through Catholic Social Action and embodying the teachings of Jesus Christ in everyday life by serving others, especially those in need.

Feel free to get in touch if you would like to celebrate any Caritas work within your parish or if you would like to get involved in more. My email address is [email protected]

Donate

Whilst you are here you may wish to make a donation to the Archdiocese.

You can now donate online to any of our parishes or indeed a specific cause, for example the Clergy Training Fund.

Both regular donations and single donations are very welcome. We thank you for your contribution.
