Latest News Chapter Mass at St Chad’s Cathedral The Chapter of Canons, who form the governing body of St Chad’s Cathedral, gathered together today (Monday 9 December) for a Chapter Mass. It was celebrated by Archbishop Bernard on the Feast of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, one of the Feast Days of the Archdiocese. The Feast Day also marks the 15th anniversary of Archbishop Bernard’s installation as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Birmingham. The Chapter of Canons, who care for the cathedral and its liturgical life, had met beforehand for a meeting. They are also the College of Consultors who advise the Archbishop about the life and mission of the Archdiocese. Bishops David Evans, Timothy Menezes and Richard Walker were also in attendance at Mass, along with members of the cathedral choir and pupils from St Chad’s Catholic Primary School. This year, to honour the importance of this Marian feast, its observance was moved to Monday 9 December (from 8 December).
