Whilst Storm Goretti swept across the UK at the weekend, bringing a multi-hazard weather event of exceptionally strong winds, heavy snowfall, and significant rainfall, a group of young people from Coventry were safely away on retreat.

Youth leaders and young people from Christ the King Parish, Coventry, were staying at the Kenelm Youth Trust (KYT) centre in Alton, Staffordshire Moorlands, with a group of 31 taking part in the weekend programme.

Despite the severe weather conditions affecting much of the country, the group enjoyed a full and enriching retreat experience. Highlights included celebrating Mass in Alton with Fr Chris Yule, a former priest at Christ the King.

Speaking after the weekend, one of the youth leaders said: “We had a lovely Mass, and it was wonderful to be reunited with Fr Chris.”

They added: “The youth group have had the most fabulous time at Alton Castle - lots of fun, lots of adventure, and lots of prayer.”

The retreat provided an opportunity for faith, friendship, and reflection, offering a positive and uplifting experience for the young people involved, even as Storm Goretti continued to impact travel and daily life across the UK.
