Latest News Notice of Death - Maggie Duggan From Steve Bell, Director of Education It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Maggie Duggan, who died on Tuesday 31 March following a long illness. She was surrounded by the love of her family. Maggie served the Diocesan Education Service with extraordinary commitment for nearly 22 years, including seven years as Deputy Director. Throughout her ministry she gave unstinting support to our schools, offering wise advice and practical guidance, particularly in religious education, Catholic life and mission, prayer and liturgy, and sacramental preparation. Many leaders, teachers and governors across the diocese will recall Maggie’s generosity of spirit, deep faith, and her readiness to walk alongside schools with kindness, wisdom and encouragement. Maggie’s contribution to Catholic education has been profound. She touched countless lives and helped shape the prayerful, mission-focused life of our schools in ways that will endure long into the future. While we will miss her greatly as a colleague and friend, we give thanks for her life and service, and we take comfort in knowing that her legacy will live on in the schools and communities she so faithfully served. We hold Maggie, her family and all who mourn her in our prayers, commending her to the loving mercy of God. I will inform schools of the funeral arrangements once these are known.
