Latest News Mass of the Last Supper with children from St Francis School, Bedworth With schools finishing this Friday, 27 March, for Easter and Fr Jinse leaving to go to Cardiff, Fr Patrick wanted to mark the occasion on Wednesday 25 March: "So welcome to a celebration of Mass this morning. We're celebrating today the feast of the Annunciation, where the angel Gabriel came to Mary and said, “God's message is that you will receive a son, and you will bear that son, and he will be Jesus the Saviour of the world.” "And so, we celebrate Mary's faith, and we celebrate too the angel Gabriel's word that we all hear in our lives today. We're going to anticipate a Holy Week Last Supper because our children are breaking up from school on Friday and they're all delighted. I was asking some of them in the sacristy what they're going to do. I think there's lots of sleep, lots of rest, lots of catching up. They're going to have their holiday and some of them might not be able to come to our Maundy Thursday Last Supper Mass. "We want to try and recreate that in our Mass today by having the washing of the feet. Some of our children have volunteered to have their feet washed as part of the recreation of the Last Supper. When Jesus said to his friends, it's all about love; it's all about serving one another. If I can wash your feet, then that means you've got to serve and be kind and considerate to one another. It's a very important understanding of what Christianity is all about. It's about loving one another. "We welcome our school and also our parish families. We have our members here from St Francis and from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. We come to join together in this wonderful celebration. "This morning, we also bring together our choir, a choir to lead us in our singing. We are praying for lots of different people, and today I'm praying for Theresa Rose Tedds who is celebrating her birthday. "We also have a wonderful celebrity here, Father Jinse, today is his last day in Bedworth because he's going to take up a new ministry in Cardiff, thank you Father Jinse. We ask God to bless you in your ministry in Cardiff and the people that you will bring Christ too." During his homily Fr Patrick spoke about the Angelus prayer: "It’s a lovely prayer for us to say. It's a prayer of trust and saying to God, look after me and care for me, and I know you've got my back. I know that you will always look after me. "The reason we're saying it today is because of the Annunciation that started that whole journey of Jesus being born, his ministry of healing and caring and love, his dying on the cross, and his rising again so that at Easter we can celebrate with great joy; part of that journey was the Last Supper." This was followed by the Washing of the Feet of school children and then the Bidding Prayers. At the end of Mass Fr Patrick said: "So just before the final prayer and blessing. I would just like to say thank you so much for coming to celebrate this beautiful Mass in honour of the Annunciation and to recreate for us the Last Supper. "Enjoy the rest of your morning as we stand now for our final prayer and blessing." Photo Gallery by Con McHugh Watch! Recording of Mass Visit the Parish website Manage Cookie Preferences
