Please pray for the repose of the soul of Monsignor Vaughan Frederick John Morgan CBE, a priest of the Archdiocese of Birmingham living in retirement, who died on Friday 5 December 2025.

Mgr Vaughan was ordained in 1957. He first served as a priest in the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh and was appointed a chaplain to the Royal Navy in 1962. He became the Principal Roman Catholic Chaplain and Vicar General of the Bishopric of the Forces in 1979. In 1984 he was appointed chaplain to the Oratory School in Oxfordshire. He began his final appointment as Parish Priest of Charlbury in 1997, retiring in 2007. 

We pray for Mgr Vaughan’s family, his friends, former parishioners and all who mourn him. 

Funeral Arrangements

Reception of Mgr Vaughan’s body will be at the Oxford Oratory, 25 Woodstock Road, Oxford, on Thursday 15 January 2026 at 5pm, followed by Vespers and Mass. Bishop Timothy Menezes presiding.

The Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Friday 16 January 2026 at 11.30am. This will be a Solemn Requiem Mass in the Extraordinary Form with Ablutions.

A private family cremation will follow the Mass.

There will be a reception in the Parish Centre.
