Latest News Notice of Death - Professor Judith Champ From Canon Michael Dolman, Rector of St Mary’s College, Oscott: We share the sad news that Professor Judith Champ, Dame of the Order of St Sylvester, former lecturer at St Mary's College, Oscott and renowned champion and academic of Catholic History, died peacefully in the early hours of Easter Sunday morning (5 April). Judith was also a friend, colleague, and mentor to so many, through her work in research and in the formation of men for the Catholic priesthood. We give thanks to God for the gift of her life and for her unwavering dedication to the research and preservation of Catholic history. She had a particular gift for bringing history to life to inform the formation of priests for the mission of the Church in our own times. We pray for the happy repose of her soul. Funeral details The Requiem Mass will be celebrated at the Metropolitan Cathedral and Basilica of St Chad in Birmingham on Wednesday 6 May at 11.00am. Cardinal Vincent Nichols will preside. Following the burial at Oscott Cemetery, refreshments will be served in St Mary's College, Oscott. Concelebrating clergy are asked to bring purple chasuble and stole for the Requiem Mass.
