On Friday 21 November all schools across the Archdiocese were invited to join an online Jubilee Finale event.

Hosted by the Diocesan Education Service this was an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate all the amazing work undertaken in our schools during this Jubilee Year.

Although the Jubilee Year doesn't officially end until the Feast of the Epiphany in January 2026, it was an opportune moment for schools to be together just before the Solemnity of Christ the King, and the celebration of World Youth Sunday. These occasions also mark the end of the Church's Ordinary Year.

Steve Bell, Director of Education, hosted the live stream event. It included a word of welcome from Archbishop Bernard Longley, and the Gospel and Homily was given by Bishop Timothy Menezes.

Pupils were involved throughout the live stream in a variety of ways and music was provided by CJM Music.

During the year schools have embraced key themes of the Jubilee journey - Prayer, Social Action and Fundraising (particularly for Father Hudson's Caritas (FHC)) - and throughout the live stream there was the opportunity for schools to share what they'd been up to via a 'chat' facility.

Many schools had also submitted video highlights which were shared before and after the live stream.

Jo Watters, CEO at Father Hudson's, spoke to children during the live stream. She said the charity had been 'astounded' by the support received from schools during the Jubilee Year.

It is hoped schools will continue to live out the themes of the Jubilee Year moving forward.
