Latest News Parishioner prepares to embark on solo cycle fundraiser for St Peter’s, Bloxwich Parishioner Martin Bradley is limbering up for a cycle ride with a difference next week - a 175-mile fundraising pilgrimage. In support of Fr David Doran, parish priest at St Peter’s, Bloxwich, (pictured) and his appeal for funds to support the purchase of a new organ, Martin is hoping to raise £1,000 from his cycling challenge. Martin’s journey starts from Bloxwich on Monday 25 August. He will cycle to St Chad's Cathedral, Birmingham, then to Chelsea Old Church to pay respects for St Thomas More and finally to Westminster Cathedral, London. The journey is around 175 miles over three days, almost exclusively on canal towpaths and Thames pathways. Canon Brian McGinley, Dean of St Chad’s Cathedral, will greet Martin when he stops at St Chad’s. On his journey Martin will take photographs and video footage to use in a presentation of his fundraising journey. “I love cycling and regard it as a blessing from God,” said Martin. ”It has been invaluable for good physical and mental health. “Despite all my cycling experience I know this venture will be challenging but with prayer and the knowledge of support they can be readily overcome.” Funds raised from Martin’s cycle ride will help to pay for a new organ at St Peter’s, following a successful trial of a new organ. “The old organ is over 30 years old and the technology is no longer supported,” said Fr David. “It was using floppy discs as part of the playback system! “The new organ is an Allen GX-215 and the purpose is to have a fully functioning organ for worship of God for another 30 years. “We have been assisted by Andrew Beattie who volunteers to play at St Peter’s and who has over 50 years of organ experience and expertise.” Please donate if you can, thank you St Peter's, Bloxwich Manage Cookie Preferences
