News from Mary's Meals

Mary’s Meals are now serving school meals to over three million children, living in some of the world’s poorest communities, every day.

This remarkable achievement, announced last year, could not have happened without the support and prayer of our partners across the world.

In the Archdiocese of Birmingham, we are delighted to be working alongside many parishes and schools who partner with us in this mission.

So far this year we have received generous support from churches across the Archdiocese, raising over £8,000 already. This work is supported by more than 15 diocesan volunteers who raise awareness and funds for Mary’s Meals across the region.

During the month of May, Mary’s Meals is inviting churches and schools to take part in their Pray in May campaign, encouraging prayer and reflection for children around the world who rely on a daily school meal.

To plan your participation, we’ve developed a range of easy-to-use Pray In May resources. These include printable prayers for children and a bulletin notice with information to share with your parish. This year, we’ve also introduced new materials, such as Rosary reflections and Bidding Prayers, which can be used during Sunday Mass.

“The work of Mary’s Meals is underpinned by prayer. During the month of May we are inviting our dear friends and supporters to continue to pray for this work, so that we can together do everything we can to feed the next hungry child”, said Hannah Moore, Mary’s Meals Regional Relationship Officer for the West Midlands.

If you would like a representative to come and share about Mary’s Meals in your church, please contact Hannah Moore via email [email protected] or call 07706 353 755.
