As the festive season draws near schools across the Archdiocese of Birmingham are taking part in the Reverse Advent Calendar initiative.

Now in its second year the campaign encourages pupils to donate an item to Father Hudson’s Caritas (FHC) which is then shared with those in need.

Last year over 100,000 toiletry items were donated by pupils - an incredible achievement.

Father Hudson’s is the social care agency of the Archdiocese and offers a range of services.

Kevin Hateley, Head of Fundraising, Communication and Marketing at FHC, said:

“This Advent our family of diocesan schools will once again be working together to support Father Hudson’s Caritas and those in need.

“This time schools are being invited to collect non-perishable food items, including dried foods (such as pasta and rice), sauces, tinned foods, biscuits, crisps and any suitable Christmas food items.

“All donated food will be used to create hampers for distribution across our FHC projects before Christmas.

“We are immensely grateful for the continued support of our school family. We are all working together to help others.”
